Guiding Purpose
Pathways of Purpose (POP) empowers underserved youth and communities with our asset-based, STEAM educational and vocational programs. POP will address the growing risks of climate change, social and economic inequities with movement building towards sustainable systems. We will provide educational and vocational opportunities, multicultural safe spaces, sustainable business development, cross-sector innovations, environmental justice, regenerative agriculture, food and land sovereignty, youth empowerment, social justice, participatory action research, cooperative economics and community resilience.
Why is developing a sense of purpose important?
The construction of a noble purpose in adolescence has been proven to be connected to other positive social assets that help young people flourish and are optimal for healthy development including: meaning, self- understanding, identity, engagement in meaningful activities, altruism, and pro-social behavior (Moran, et al., 2012). Dr. Susanne Sarley added resilience and crystallizing experiences to the related assets through her research work (Sarley 2017).
